Dr. Lavranos offers expert medical testimony at trial to other law firms in cases across Canada, as well as medicolegal consulting related to civil and administrative proceedings — specializing in highly complex medical malpractice cases. As an emergency physician, he has expertise and experience across a broad range of medicine, from delivering babies to the treatment of strokes, cancers, trauma, and much more.

A dual-qualified physician and lawyer, Dr. Lavranos graduated from Dalhousie Medicine in 2012 and completed a Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine residency at McMaster University in 2015. He has practiced throughout Southern Ontario and continues to practice emergency medicine in Nova Scotia — keeping his clinical knowledge current and directly relevant to the cases he reviews.

Seeking to deepen his impact, he earned his JD from Dalhousie University in 2023 with a specialty in Health Law. This uncommon combination of frontline clinical practice and legal training allows him to read a medical chart as a physician and interpret it as a lawyer — quickly pinpointing the issues that decide standard of care, causation, and liability.

Through Acuity Medical Law, the firm he founded, Dr. Lavranos manages the full range of medical malpractice files — from birth injuries and surgical errors to delayed diagnoses and fatal injuries. He also pursues justice for clients through administrative law and regulatory bodies, and continues to advance civil rights through his organization, the Nova Scotia Civil Liberties Association.
